SPIRIT SPEAKS ART EXHIBITION AND OPEN MIC FT. ALICIA ASTACIO

About the Event
“ I officially considered myself intrigued by art in 2010, when I took my first college art courses. That's when I realized I could tune out my surroundings, pause my worries and channel my emotions into colors, shapes, and sometimes objects. It was then and is still, without a doubt a form of meditation for me.
I create because I like the way it calms my mind, and allows me to get lost in myself. It forces me to appreciate the moment. Creating gives me a sense of purpose, liberty and productivity. A lot of times when I can't express my emotions verbally, I'll create a form of release. The soul isn't verbal, it speaks in symbols. my hands have naturally created a visual language, a voice of mine that you can see as opposed to hear. If we never meet, I hope as you view my work you also see Me, setting myself free.”- Alicia Astacio
